On Coronavirus – What Next?

This is going to be a weirdly personal blog post and not something I’d usually write, but I feel it would be strange not to talk about my thoughts around Coronavirus and how it relates to my work, and the industry I’m in.

This is going to be a weirdly personal blog post and not something I’d usually write, but I feel it would be strange not to talk about my thoughts around Coronavirus and how it relates to my work, and the industry I’m in.

Whilst as I’m writing this, lockdown in the U.K. is starting to be relaxed slightly, it seems there is still a long way to go before mass events like the ones I’m used to entertaining at will be coming back. And when they do come back, it will be likely with some previous norms erased or temporarily changed.

When we first went into lockdown, it took me a lot of time – as it did for most people – to adjust to the new normal we are in. It was hard to see many of the events I was excited about performing at for this year disappear or get postponed overnight.

I’d say I spent a good month or so just trying to get my head round it all. Trying to understand what I could offer as an entertainer in this weird time.

Eventually, I’ve been able to see this as a period of reinvention. As opportunity and chance to offer something new, and do some stuff I’ve been putting off!

Some of the things I’ve been working on since lockdown:

  • Reinvented and restarted my blog (this being my new first post).
  • Worked on my routines so that when we’re back, they’re appropriately socially distant
  • Made some other tweaks to my website I’ve been putting off.

But the thing I’m most excited about:

I’m now offering Interactive Virtual Magic and Mindreading Zoom Shows

Live in-person entertainment is sadly going to be missing from our lives for some time. So, over the last month, I’ve been developing and working on a highly interactive show that you can enjoy with your friends or colleagues on Zoom or any other interactive platform. It brings the same interactive nature of my in-person shows, to the comfort of your own home.

Participants react in an interactive zoom show.

It has the added benefit of being able to share in and enjoy your friends’ reactions as I read their mind and yours through the computer screen.

When developing the show, I was adamant that it would meet the same high standards that I put into every show I do. If it couldn’t meet them, then I wouldn’t offer it. However, I’m pleased to say that I’ve received great reviews and the show is fun and unique in its own right as it’s been developed specifically for Zoom.

You Can Win a Free Show

What’s cool is that you can win one of several virtual shows that I’m giving away over the next few months. And all you need to do is enter your email address, and you’ll be entered to win one of the shows.

Then you simply gather your friends at the time we agree, I’ll send you the link and we have a unique and exciting experience together

Support for Key Workers and those with Weddings impacted by Coronavirus

I know how hard this has been on so many individuals but these two groups have been hit in extremely hard ways. As a Wedding Entertainer, I know how hard this is for so many couples that I’ve been due to work with this year

If you’re a key worker, or someone who’s had their wedding cancelled or postponed, then please get in touch and you can have the show as a ‘Pay What You Can’ offering. Whether that’s £0 or £100.

Find out more on my Virtual Magician page about how to claim that.

Stay Safe

There’s so much to be uncertain about in the world right now, but I’m certain that by talking to each other, listening and respecting each other, we’ll be in a strong position on the other side of all this.

So look for more content on the blog, and more content on my social media and I’ll hopefully (virtually) see you soon.

Stay safe,

Chris
